Two predator priests in Alton Illinois

Help us protect the vulnerable and heal the wounded!

With little attention, cleric was suspended 6 months ago

He & at least one other predator priest worked here

We want to find & help victims trapped in silence & shame

WHO WE ARE

We’re with a support group called SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, the nation's largest self-help organization for clergy abuse victims

WHY WE’RE HERE

Six months ago, a credibly accused child molesting cleric, who once worked here and abused a boy here, was quietly suspended by his church superiors. He is Fr. William M. Brown.

At least one other predator priest, Fr. John Steven Rabideau, also worked here. When he was accused of molesting three boys, Fr. John fled the US, worked in ministry in the Philippines, was arrested in Colombia, extradited to Michigan, convicted and was sentenced to 5-10 years in prison.

(For details, see BishopAccountability.org, SNAPnetwork.org, and DavidClohessy.com)

Fr. Brown is also associated with a Colorado-based Catholic non-profit called the Spitzer Center. A native of Germany, Fr. Brown grew up in California, studied in Massachusetts and recently worked in Boston.

WHAT WE WANT

We want every current and former parishioner at Immaculate Conception-St. Mary's Church to help us find and support every person who may have been hurt by these two men, and help police investigate the report of Fr. Brown’s crime.

Remember: prosecutors may be able to charge/convict Fr. Brown. (Fr. Rabideau is deceased.)

We also want Springfield IL Bishop Thomas Paprocki to post Fr. Brown’s name on his list of ‘credibly accused’ abusers, give every document about him to law enforcement and aggressively seek out others who saw, suspected or suffered wrongdoing by either Fr. Brown or Fr. Rabideau.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

--Spread the word about the allegations against these men. Beg anyone with information or suspicions to contact independent sources of help: police, prosecutors, therapists, loved ones.

--Call Bishop Paprocki (217 698 8500webmaster@dio.org). Urge him to honor his promises to be ‘open & transparent.’ Tell him to publicly list ALL predators who are or were in his diocese.
